Address: 64 Wudaoying Hutong, 40 Guozijian Street, 46 Fangjia Hutong, Dongcheng, Beijing “LOOK AT MY BAG!” is an interactive project designed for BeijingONE Arts Festival 2014, where people will be invited to take an image depicting some typical element related to old Beijing's architecture and walk along the hutongs carrying it on. The selected images refer to some architectural and decorative element of the city and can represent the map of a neighbourhood, the plan of a single house, some decorative detail taken from a wall or an old piece of furniture. The style of these drawings is very technical: black wireframe lines on white background. The pictures have been zoomed in or out their original scale, printed on rigid board and thus transformed into accessories to wear with the help of some bands, stripes and handles, as they were pieces of fashion. Exhibition visitors will be invited to take some of these “architectural accessories”, wear it and go around for a while, to show and to be shown along the alleyways nearby. People can carry some of them on their shoulders and get ready for an urban backpacking, or just keep them in their hand like the newest desired purse to bring and show around. Some info points with all necessary information about the installation will be organized in two or three locations around Guozijian. These points will work as an exchange station where visitors can take one piece and return it after a while. Between collecting and returning each visitor will be actively responsible of his picture of Beijing cultural history. He has to physically carry on a piece of Beijing, taking care that it won’t be damaged. He can answer questions that others will ask him on the way, or simple walk ahead showing people that Beijing culture is moving on. Thanks the interaction with BeijingONE visitors, for a time of two weeks the wearable images of “LOOK AT MY BAG!” will create a moving and ever changing street exhibition. The project plays with the fact that under the guise of revitalization these neighborhoods have been often overturned, used and thrown away like a dress to change, while what is needed is greater commitment of everyone in understanding and showing them as the best parts of our city. “LOOK AT MY BAG!”( 看看我的包!)
